CEREC AC - Acquisiton Center
CEREC AC - the modular CAD/CAM system for chairside treatment
CEREC AC is a modular CAD/CAM system for creating all-ceramic restorations in a single appointment, and is the hardware basis for the new AC software. The system consists of two separate components: an imaging unit and a choice of two milling units. This means that it can be adapted to your individual practice requirements. The imaging unit and the milling unit can be connected by means of a cable, wireless or network link, whichever you prefer.
If you decide in favour of a wireless or network link, the milling unit can be located anywhere in your dental practice - either next to the treatment chair, in a separate room or as a fascinating high-tech attraction in your waiting room.
CEREC AC, consisting of image acquisition using a short wave blue light camera, and a choice of milling units, adapted to a wide variety of practice configurations. These tools combined with state of the art CEREC AC software allow dentists to create perfect fitting, aesthetically pleasing, ceramic restorations in one surgery visit.

Key Technology
You have the choice. CEREC AC provides a separate acquisition unit while CEREC Chairline integrates the CEREC acquisition technology into Sirona treatment center. Both acquisition options include the CEREC AC software and use the same milling unit.
Cerec AC Unit
The CEREC AC acquisition unit incorporates a mobile PC that has been specially designed and approved for medical applications. The PC is equipped with a flat panel monitor, a high-precision 3-D measuring camera, and a microprocessor-controlled image capture card. The card processes the images from the 3-D blue cam measuring camera in real time.
CEREC Chairline
CEREC Chairline is the complete integration of CEREC into a treatment center. The integration creates more space in the surgery and enables an ergonomic workflow. After the optical impression has been acquired the design of the restoration can be done chairside with an optical mouse on the dentist's element
CEREC Chairline consists of the CEREC Chairline Box, including the CEREC AC measuring camera mounted behind the treatment center monitor, and a PC with CEREC AC software. The CEREC Chairline Box can be easily removed and attached to other Chairline prepared treatment centers in the practice.
Bio-Generic Reference
CEREC AC Software is Windows® - based and 3-dimensional. With "what you see is what you get" realism, you have the control and vision you've never had with any other restorative method. CEREC AC software allows you to see the preparation and restoration from all angles. You can remove mesial and distal neighbors to ensure that proximal contacts are precisely correct. CEREC AC now enhances crown design with automatic occlusion proposals. Once the software settles the virtual restoration into the proper place and position, the "virtual articulation" paper shows you the precise occlusal contacts. So only minimal adjustments are necessary to create functional occlusion every time. With new incredibly detailed databases of dental anatomy, your restorations will meet the highest esthetic demands. If the included dental databases do not meet your needs, just use the patented Replication or correlation modes to copy a patient's own anatomy or anatomy from a diagnostic wax-up to create esthetic and functional crowns and veneers. Now, more than ever before, CEREC AC is your tool to produce ceramic restorations of the highest quality simply, quickly, and reliably.
Milling Units
MCXL
The newest addition to the Cerec family. Faster by 60% and quieter by 40% when compared to the ML. Aimed at the multi surgery practice where time is critical. Speed is everything for the MCXL. Additional motors can be fitted to cut downtime as burrs are changed. Communication is by wireless LAN, and again the milling unit can go anywhere in the practice.
Once the milling unit is started, the acquisition unit may be used for other tasks. Indeed by using the quadrant programme, you can continue designing neighboring teeth cutting time even further. The milling unit communicates with the acquisition unit via a cable or by radio. Using radio communication allows the milling unit to be installed in a wide variety of locations: indeed anywhere in the practice. The MCXL for instance being 40% quieter than the standard ML is often sited in the waiting area as a fascinating eye-catcher. The choice is yours.
The diamond burrs in the milling unit are designed for the shortest possible milling times. The conical burr allows creation of highly detailed occlusal surfaces. Performed symmetrically, the milling process ensures that the ceramic materials are machined with utmost care and precision.
CMU (Compact Milling Unit)
The standard workhorse of the Cerec system. Well over 600 of these units have been supplied in the UK and are still going strong after over seven years. Restorations are milled to + or- 10 microns of accuracy, and typically will take between 8 to 12 minutes.
