Veneers, Inlays & Caps using CEREC Acquisition Center (AC) system Why?

Why Dentists are so enthusiastic about CEREC AC and why you should consider it.

CEREC AC screen imageCEREC AC is one of the most advanced products in world dentistry, with over 16 million restorations worldwide. The CEREC can simultaneously design and mill, enabling the dentist to prepare perfectly fitted ceramic restorations in one patient visit, with huge savings in time and laboratory costs.

Single or multicolored blocks of ceramic material are converted into beautifully fitting inlays, onlays, partial crowns, full anterior and posterior crowns bridges or veneers. The final result is indistinguishable from a healthy, natural tooth and crowning is often unnecessary, because healthy tooth material can be saved due to smaller adhesive gaps.
CEREC AC Chairside
The CEREC  method was developed by Prof. W. Mörmann and Dr. M. Brandestini in 1980 at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. The first patients having been treated with CEREC inlays in 1985. From this time CEREC has undergone continuous technical and clinical developments. Today it is used worldwide by a growing number of dentists.

The CEREC method means today:

The CEREC method combines adhesive bonding techniques with rapid production of all-ceramic inlays, onlays, partial crowns, veneers bridges and crowns for anterior and posterior regions. This results in a unique combination creating biocompatible, non-metallic, natural looking restorations from durable high-quality ceramic materials, in a single treatment session, and without the need for temporaries.

What is CEREC?

CEREC AC multiple imagesCEREC  is a complete and unique system that allows dentists to mill perfectly fitting ceramic restorations in surgery. The AC software allows the dentist to take an optical impression with an short wave blueray camera and go on to design perfectly fitting restorations. The dentist has 100% control of the marginal fit, proximal contacts, and the occlusal surface. All aesthetic considerations can be accommodated in the design prior to milling.
The advanced "six axis" milling machine produces the restoration within 10 minutes in the surgery. This sophisticated machine works to within 50 microns. The resulting restoration is often indistinguishable from natural tooth material.

The complete ceramic restoration is fitted in one visit saving the dentist the second appointment time and the laboratory bill. It goes without saying that the patients love it.

Can you prove it?

The durability of clinical restorations is especially important to you. The adhesive bond between the tooth and the restoration leads to an enhanced durability. This has been proven in numerous long-term scientific studies on CEREC restorations. These surveys indicate that CEREC restorations have a survival rate that is on par with gold - or better. Moreover, many restorations used in these studies came from CEREC 1 units.

Further studies on CEREC can be found via the Internet in the National Library of Medicine. Click on this link to start an automated query on CEREC publications in this database.

CEREC ceramics are extremely aesthetic. They are available in a wide variety of colour shades. What's more, they are translucent and adapt wonderfully to the adjacent teeth. Historically Cerec blocks have been produced by Vita. Indeed most of the long term studies have been carried out with this material, and it is not uncommon to find a survival rate in excess of 98% over many years.

In many cases CEREC allows you to adopt a more conservative approach (e.g. onlays instead of full crowns). This means saving more tooth material than is possible with conventional treatment.

CEREC restorations are biocompatible and display the same physical characteristics as natural tooth enamel (e.g. abrasion). Last but not least, CEREC ceramics are available as industrially produced blocks ensuring they are free from human-induced defects.

Ceramic Systems mission is to "help as many dentists be as successful as possible with CEREC". Therefore we have devised a buying process that allows ample time for evaluation and planning for the introduction of CEREC into the practice.

Before you buy a CEREC from Ceramic Systems you will have seen CEREC on more than one occasion. You will have probably have had a full demonstration of the systems in your own practice with your team around you. You will have been provided with clinical studies and been given the contact details for colleagues who are using CEREC. The financial implications and benefits will have been explained in detail using your own data.

All that will be left is for you to sign the paperwork.

The CEREC will be installed within a few weeks and you will then become part of our comprehensive training programme. The training starts at the time of delivery and continues through in house residential seminars and live treatment sessions. All this is part of the initial Cerec cost. However Ceramic Systems through the Dental Training Institute will continue to offer you further advanced and master courses at extra cost to those dentists who want to ‘go that extra mile'.
